We arrived safely in Rome about midday Friday 18th. All good and straight forward getting through all the necessaries including the train into Roma Termini. A short stroll (or roll since we are all armed with those wheelie bag things) to via Carlo Alberto, 24. Paola was there to greet us and showed us the apartment. 2nd floor. A lift the size of tissue box. Literally. Spacious 3 bedroom apartment overlooking the via and a church. Not too difficult; there's a church on every corner in fact at the end of our block is the Santa Maria Maggiore. One of the larger establishments!
Since we've been awake since 6am ( not to mention the 3 hours at 1am) were all rearing to go and get stuck into Roma. A short stroll from here to Piazza Vittorio. Then through Parco Esquilino before we get to the Colosseo (Colosseum). I think at the end of that will be pizza or pasta or at least a Porchetta roll. So the overnight rain has cleared and we'll be off. The view from the bedroom is old (like Roma) but pleasant.
