Doors, doors, doors ...

One thing that is impressive to note when meandering through the ancient streets, vias, rues of olden Europe are the magnificent doorways. Doors to cathedrals and Basilicas and churches are meant to be ornate and signify the position of religion and the gates to heaven and other palave.  But many of the doorways that are just as, if not more, interesting are the doors to apartment buildings. Where people live and use them everyday and clearly tell a story; are they cared for or tatty, are they ornate or austere, do they open for traffic and pedestrians, are they as old as the building or restored or replaced. Most are the first barrier to entry and might be the first of three security doors before you can escape into your sanctuary. I clearly find them satisfying and I hope you do too.
Our door in Roma

This is a bit cheeky. This is the massive door at Pisa Cathedral

Our door in Florence

St Peters Basilica

Thus door is part of the University in Florence and date on the plaque was 1530.
