We loved Toulouse; even if our apartment, while gorgeous, was a wee bit small for the five of us. It's an easy City to get around and its history is extraordinarily ancient; even for Europe. Dating back to the 2nd century BC when the Romans had a bit to do with the region. Today it has the biggest space centre in Europe, is the home of Airbus, has Intel as a tenant as it's European centre, houses Thales amongst a raft of other multinational organisations. It's population is a shade under one million and it still feels like a country town rather than an international centre of excellence.
